The Addition of Particles to an Alternative Jet Fuel

The expansion of the research on nanoscale particles demonstrates several advantages in terms stability and an increased surface area to volume ratio compared micron-sized particles. Based this, present work explores addition aluminum hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), alternative jet fuel. To evaluate influence particle sizes, nano micron (40 nm 5 ?m) a concentration 0.5 wt.% were stably suspended HVO. This study evaluates droplet combustion with initial diameter 250 ?m drop tube furnace under different temperatures (600, 800, 1000 °C). A high magnification lens coupled high-speed camera provides qualitative quantitative data regarding size evolution micro-explosions. Pure HVO Jet A-1 also tested for comparison purposes. results reveal that enhances fuel combustion. Furthermore, decreasing increasing temperature burning rate pure presents nearly 1.75 mm2/s until t/D02 = 0.35 s/mm2 at T °C. When nanoparticles are added wt.%, improvement 24% is noticed.
